This year we did our Christmas on Thursday night. We had plans to leave for my parents' Friday evening so we figured Thursday night would be the best time.
We had originally said we were not going to do anything for each other this year for Christmas because of financial reasons but we both ended up getting unexpected Christmas bonuses from work, and Cory was very disappointed that there were no presents under our tree. We set a limit (that we both exceeded) but we purchased things for each other that we would have spent money on anyway, so we technically weren't out any money ;-) We chose not to do stockings for each other this year, but Santa Claus visited Sam!

All total I received: 2 books, a water bottle, new ear buds, the skiing pig ornament, and the Schnauzer thing from Sam. Cory received: a new belt, a new wallet, socks for work, Beavis & Butthead boxers, a book, and from Sam he got a book of trivia and brain teasers.
Even though our Christmas this year was small and on a Thursday, I thoroughly enjoyed it! We both received very practical things and the best part was that our bank account didn't take a beating!!
